DOJABA Member Spotlight: Mary Mudrick

DOJABA Wants to Highlight You, Mary Mudrick!

Mary Mudrick has been an Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Louisiana since 1999, and has held several positions within that office.  For example, she was the coordinator for Project Safe Neighborhoods from 2002 to 2008.  In addition, she was Chief of the Criminal Division in the Shreveport Office from 2010 to 2016.  For several years, she was the Criminal Civil Rights Coordinator.  Mary has tried many criminal and civil cases involving everything from cross burning to social security fraud.

Mary has always been drawn to litigation and thus drawn to her role at DOJ.  She believes it is important to be part of the initial criminal charging decisions that affect her community, and she wanted to ensure that people were treated with dignity and fairness.  Before joining DOJ, Mary had a distinguished career as an assistant city attorney in Shreveport.  Mary worked in both the civil and the criminal divisions.  She also served on the City Court Bench, a municipal court of record that processes civil, criminal, and traffic matters.

Mary earned a Juris Doctor from Southern University Law School.  She was the recipient of the Reginald Heber Smith fellowship.  Afterwards, she clerked for the Honorable Judge Carl E. Stewart.

When not performing DOJ work, Mary is heavily involved with her church, teaching and mentoring young people.  Mentorship is very important to Mary.  When she began her career, someone took her under their wing and taught her valuable lessons.  She was grateful for her mentorship experience and hopes to do the same for others.  She often encourages young attorneys to have faith and confidence in themselves.

Mary is the type of a leader in her community who uplifts everyone around her.  Her dedication to her work and community is evident in every situation.  She always ensures that she does her best and that she is fair.  If you are interested in learning more about her experiences, please contact her (Mary.Mudrick@usdoj.gov).  We are so very proud of her and we cherish the wealth of experience she brings to DOJABA.

We celebrate your excellence, Mary!
