DOJABA and the Criminal Division’s Women in Law Book Club Event (Caste by Isabela Wilkinson)

Friday, May 21 (12 noon - 1 pm via WebEx)

DOJABA and the Criminal Division’s Women in Law Book Club are co-sponsoring a virtual book club event where our facilitators will lead us in a discussion of the book Caste: the Origins of our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson, Pulitzer Prize winning author.  (Due to popular demand, this book has proven difficult to snag from the library, but is easily purchasable online from Amazon, eBay or an independent bookstore.)
Our facilitators will offer some guiding questions for discussion, but also invite our participants to speak on whatever topics they desire. Our aim is to encourage open and robust discussion within DOJ of some of the ideas that Wilkerson touches on in Caste and to offer another way for us all to converse and connect with each other outside of our work.

We encourage you to attend if you have read the book, started the book, read a synopsis of the book, or none of the above! Wilkerson’s book touches on many themes and ideas that you have likely thought about, even if you don’t make it through the book before the meeting, so we hope everyone who is interested will join us!

Below you’ll find a few articles and summaries of Caste
