DOJABA General Body Meeting
Our next General Body Meeting will be held on February 15, 2024, at 12:00 noon.
In preparation for the General Body Meeting, please review the attached DOJABA Constitution and Bylaws document and the proposed amendments below and be prepared to discuss and vote on them during this General Body Meeting. Summaries of the proposed changes to the amendments are as follows:
Article V, Sect. A amended to state “all officers must be regular members in good standing.”
Article V, Sect. B amended to state that the Chair must work in the Washington, D.C. metro area, adding an exception for the Executive Council to waive the requirement for potential candidates. This amendment also eliminated the requirement that the Vice Chair also work in the D.C. metro area.
Article VII, Sect. B amended to re-state the Elections requirement that candidates for Chair must work in the D.C. metro area unless the Executive Council votes to waive the requirement.
Article VIII, Sect. A amended to add language addressing the potential circumstance where both the Chair and Vice Chair positions become vacant at the same. The amended procedure provides that the Parliamentarian will call a special meeting of the Executive Council where the Executive Council will appoint a sitting member of that Council to serve as Chair. Once the new Chair is appointed, that person will appoint a Regular member of DOJABA to serve as chair.
By Law No. 5, Sect. (1) amended to change the name of the “Assistant United States Attorney Committee” to the “Assistant United States Attorney Engagement Committee.”
