Training: Color Inside the Lines, “Redistricting, Race & Representation” (NAACP)

DOJABA members are invited to REDISTRICTING, RACE, AND REPRESENTATION, the NAACP’s Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Program, which will be held virtually from 9:00 AM EST – 3:00 PM EST on Monday, July 12, 2021.  The program is part of the NAACP Annual Convention and is open to everyone.

The 2020 Census has concluded, and the process of redistricting at the congressional, state, and local levels has begun.  This process is as important as the elections for any of the offices affected.  Consequently, the NAACP Office of the General Counsel is offering this free program, designed to equip those having little or no redistricting experience with substantive knowledge about the redistricting process and how to litigate claims.

Presenters at the program are some of the nation’s foremost redistricting experts.  Organizations represented include: Census Channel LLC; The Law Offices of Carroll Rhodes; Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law; NAACP Connecticut State Conference; NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc.; NAACP Texas State Conference; Southern Coalition for Social Justice; Texas Southern University School of Law; and Yale University Rule of Law Clinic.

Once again, the program is free of charge, and we are seeking accreditation for 5 CLE credit hours.  The link for program registration (and content) is: https://naacpepi.tfaforms.net/forms/view/18.

Please spread the word to all law students, professors and/or, practicing attorneys in your network who might be interested so that we reach the largest possible audience.  Please note that this program is also open to non-lawyers.

If you have questions, please contact Tia Lawson (TLawson@naacpnet.org).
