DOJABA Member Spotlight: Lindsay Dunn (August 2021)

To honor the Excellence of DOJABA Members, we will circulate a “DOJABA Member Spotlight” every other month.  This month we celebrate Lindsay Dunn.

Lindsay Dunn is an attorney in the DOJ Civil Division, Office of Immigration Litigation, where she has worked since 2015. Currently, she handles cases in federal circuit courts of appeals across the nation, and she has also advised on the use of favorable prosecutorial discretion in cases.

Lindsay’s advocacy doesn’t end with her day job at the Civil Division. In addition to being a member of DOJABA, she serves as the Vice President of DOJ Pride, an affinity group promoting equality for LGBTQ+ federal workers. And she’s also a board member of the DOJ Gender Equality Network, an advocacy group promoting equal and supportive treatment of federal workers and contractors, regardless of their gender. Notably, she recently helped lead the DOJ Gender Equality Network’s successful campaign in support of paid parental leave for federal employees. As a result of her efforts, she received the Attorney General’s Award for Equal Employment Opportunity.

Before joining the Civil Division, Lindsay worked as an AUSA from 2012 to 2014 in her hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana, where she did both civil and criminal case work. Unsurprisingly (given her dedication to our community) she also co-founded a Civil Rights Task Force aimed at improving community outreach, training to better identify and address hate crimes, and tackling issues such as the school to prison pipeline.

Lindsay received her undergraduate and law degrees from Columbia University, through which she also completed a human rights internship at the Legal Resources Centre in Durban, South Africa.  She began her legal career as an associate at the New York office of the law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP before transitioning to DOJ.

Lindsay has made a career of supporting others, no matter whether the fight involves racial equity, gender equality, or continued advocacy for things like family leave for elder care. Please join us in saluting Lindsay for her contributions to DOJ and to our community. We celebrate your excellence, Lindsay!
