DOJABA Appointment Committee to Submit Letter of Support for Nominees to fill U.S. Attorney and Other Vacancies

DOJABA is now receiving names of individuals who have already been nominated, or are being vetted for nominations, to fill vacancies across the Department, including U.S. Attorneys.  DOJABA’s goal is to support and encourage the selection of qualified, diverse persons for federal leadership positions.  It restricts its evaluation to issues bearing on professional qualifications and does not consider a nominee’s philosophy or ideology.  DOJABA considers only the integrity, reputation, and professional competence of nominees for federal appointments.  If you are interested in assisting with the Appointment Committee’s efforts, please contact DOJABA Chair, Oneshia Herring (Oneshia.Herring@usdoj.gov).

We encourage DOJABA members to submit their own name or the names of others (provided the individual’s nomination has been made public).  Submissions must be received by the DOJABA Appointment Committee no later than August 26.  The committee will select and recommend those nominees examined and determined to be “qualified” or “well-qualified” for the positions.

By close of business on August 26, please submit the following information to DOJABA Parliamentarian, Vivieon K. Jones, at vivieon.k.jones@usdoj.gov

1)                  Name of nominee and office contact information

2)                  Date nominee started federal service.

3)                  Nominee’s number of years of experience practicing law

4)                  Identified vacancy (i.e. U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin) and date of nomination, and

A brief statement (2-3 sentences) summarizing nominee’s accomplishments.
