Upcoming 2021 DOJABA Elections

DOJABA will soon hold annual elections for all officer positions (i.e., Chair, Vice-Chair, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, and Parliamentarian).  An elections timeline is outlined below:

  

Nominees Announced

On Wednesday, November 4, the nomination period for 2021 elections opened.  The electronic nominations forms were circulated by email.  The Elections Committee also accepted nominations for officers from the floor during the Elections Meeting.  According to DOJABA’s Constitution, nominees must be (or become) regular members in good standing to qualify for an elected officer position.  

The 2022 DOJABA Officer Nominees are:  

President:                                  Davené Walker

Vice Chair:                                 Dwight Draughon

Corresponding Secretary:  Jenniffer Hinton

Recording Secretary:            Ayanna Brown

Treasurer:                                  Corey Sanders  

Parliamentarian:                    Roberta Roberts and Ben Grimes

Congratulations to our nominees!  Candidacy statements will be circulated the week of November 22

Election Meeting & Voting

On Monday, December 6, at 12:00 pm EST, the Elections Meeting will be held.  All nominees will have the opportunity to give a five-minute statement.  Voting will take place electronically and will begin immediately following the presentation of candidacy statements during the Election Meeting.  Voting will close later that day at 8:00 pm EST.

To request an absentee ballot, contact DOJABA Elections Chair by 8:00 pm EST on Friday, November 12.

 

Election Results

The election results will be announced shortly after the election has concluded.  Elected officers will serve a twelve-month term, commencing on January 1, 2022.

 

Dues and Voting

In order to vote in the election, you must have paid your dues for calendar year 2021.  If you would like to pay your dues, which are $30 per calendar year for attorneys and $15 per calendar year for contractors and paraprofessional staff; they must be paid by Friday, December 4.  Please send your dues via PayPal to DOJABA Treasurer, Corey Sanders (Corey.Sanders@usdoj.gov).  Please select "send to friends and family" to avoid fees.  If you have any questions about your dues status or have difficulty with PayPal, please contact Corey directly via email.
