Women’s History Month: You Go Girl!

In honor of Women’s History Month, we will circulate a “You Go Girl!” segment each week featuring the outstanding female leaders on DOJABA’s Executive Council. This week we celebrate, DOJABA’s Vice Chair, Davené Walker.

Davené Walker serves as a Trial Attorney with the Environment and Natural Resources Division. In this role, she defends the United States and its agencies and officers in litigation under the Fifth Amendment’s Takings Clause and various statutes, like the Administrative Procedure Act and National Environmental Policy Act. Her work includes researching and analyzing novel issues, writing motions and briefs, negotiating with opposing counsel, advising agency counsel, attending depositions and site visits, and presenting oral arguments in federal courts around the country. In addition to her legal practice, she takes every opportunity to impact her office’s community and culture by volunteering for her office’s hiring, diversity, and social committees.  She looks forward to making her mark on the Department in the years to come.

Prior to her time at DOJ, Davené practiced in civil ligation for two large firms in Atlanta, temporarily clerked for a federal judge, and worked for the City of Atlanta Law Department.  She earned her undergraduate degree from the illustrious University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Davené, we appreciate all your hard work and leadership on the executive council. We celebrate your brilliance, determination, and steadfast dedication to others. You GO girl!
